Halloween ideas have changed with time and so did the costumes that have evolved from creepy DIY masks of the 20th century to modern costumes of fairy tale villains, superheroes and sexy versions of everything. Scroll down to see what Halloween looked like when your grandparents were kids!
Love the walking eyeballs!
I love all of these.
I wonder how colourful these costumes and masks actually were, and whether they were maybe actually kind of bright and cheerful in real life.
In any case, as B&W photographs, I luuuuuurve how eerie and unsettling they are!
Very nice. Personal collection?
Would love to know how they made their masks
Yep. That’s creepy.
Probably with their hands Betty.
Well, not as awful as the women with gigantic lips, or the gigantic cheekbones, boobs and butts!! Nothing as horrifying as what doctors actually did to ‘nomal-ish’ women!
Betty, probably paper mache and a bit of artistic skill, time and talent.
Nice costumes, but they should wear a mask too…
did anyone notice the spooky white costumed kid in the middle had a super scary jack o lantern with human eyes!
also creepy vermin couple is my favorite, and yes b&W some how makes it more scary!
Hollywood just doesn’t understand what makes something creepy. They always overdo it with their “more, more, more” mentality. That may work for Andrea True, but it doesn’t work for a proper sense of uncanny.
These people get it!
